Who is LOF? We are the Lucia Ornelas Foundation! A 501(c)3 founded in 2011 by the children and grandchildren of the late, Mrs. Lucia Ornelas. If you grew up in Port Lavaca chances are you’ve heard stories about Mrs. Ornelas and the impact she had on the less fortunate of the Calhoun County community and the legacy she left behind. She was a woman who served the Lord by helping, feeding, clothing and praying for anyone facing a hardship. Weekly, she would fill the trunk of her car with BBQ plates leftover from fundraisers, food from local grocery stores that was out of date but not yet expired, and clothing she would collect through donations and distribute them to the people of the community. It was the hope of the founders, that through this foundation, they would be able to carry out Mrs. Ornelas’ legacy by serving others just as she did. She was a woman loved and admired by so many, a true angel!

 

         Fiesta de Pesca will benefit the Lucia Ornelas Foundation as we continue the charitable work of the late, Mrs. Lucia Ornelas.
